Lesson 1: Presentations


Starter: A tangled web...
1. Gather around one table
2. I will start with a ball of yarn and tell you my name and one thing about myself
3. I will hold on the the end of the yarn and roll it over to someone else
4. They will say their name and one thing about themselves
5. They will hold the yarn and roll the ball to the next person
6. Repeat until everyone has introduced themselves!

Lesson Aims: To begin getting to know each other, to complete a health and safety induction and to present your Summer Assignment to the group 

Lesson Objectives (during this lesson you will):
1. Start getting to know your new class!
2. Be inducted to health and safety procedures in the textiles room for 2013/14
3. Present your summer assignment to the group
4. Decide as a group on our 'student(s) of the moment' for your Cas Holmes summer term work

Tasks/Timings:

10 MINUTES A tangled web... (starter activity) 

10 MINUTES Health and Safety
It is important that you know the health and safety precautions for using equipment in the textiles room and that you are aware of the action to take in an emergency. You can find the health and safety information on display in the classroom and you can also access it, HERE

60 MINUTES Presentations
Present your summer assignment to the group. When presenting your work you should be discussing the following:
- Your theme
- How you are interpreting the theme
- Your main inspiration
- The textile techniques you are using
- Ideas you have for taking your work forward this term

10 MINUTES 
Plenary student of the moment
Present and discuss your Cas Holmes boards from the summer term - select the 3 'best' boards from the class - these will be added to the corridor display board this week.
