Lesson 3: Theme

A quick introduction to my portfolio and what's inside it! You can see more on my website, HERE

Lesson Aims: To look at the way in which textile artists approach development of ideas and use these methods to determine key themes in your own work resulting in a mood board which clearly demonstrates your chosen theme. 

Lesson Objectives (during this lesson you will):
1. Look at and discuss Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohns methods of recording ideas and key points 
2. Complete your own set of 'recordings' in this style using the handout provided 
3. Create a mood board illustrating these ideas
4. Combine your notes and your mood board

15 MINUTES Getting to know me... Me and my portfolio! (starter)

10 MINUTES Discussion of Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohns methods


30 MINUTES Recording of ideas
using the handout below complete your own set of recordings - these notes will form your key focus for the project!

10 MINUTES What makes a good mood board? 
Group discussion and notes on white board 

20 MINUTES Mood board 
Do you want to make a paper based board of a photographic* one?

*Remember if you are doing a photographic one you will need to have a good clear surface to shoot on, good lighting (ideally natural light!), a good range of different objects and be able to have your photographic printed in high quality e.g. an actual photographic print!

TOP TIP!
Remember your choice of colour on your mood board is key! If you are a bit stuck with this or want some inspiration DESIGN SEEDS is a great place to look! You can even search for colour palettes based on specific themes and colours. 


5 MINUTES Homework:
Complete a new mood board combining it with the notes made in todays lesson
